How It All Began! - Megan & David's Wedding

It seems like a lifetime ago that I attended Megan and David's Wedding in 2016, the one that made me realise this was what I wanted to do in life! I was there, just as a guest, as part of Megan's family and I'd decided to take my stepdad's DSLR camera to get some photos of the day. having done A-Level photography, I already knew how to use it and also knew that the quality of the photos would be better.

So upon arrival, off I went! Shooting away while we waited for the ceremony to start and, without getting in the way of their actual photographer, taking photos when I could during the ceremony too.

Megan and David were perfect for each other! They made each other laugh and smile and it was clear from the moment Megan started to walk down the aisle, that these two were in this forever, there was no one else out there for these two. The love David had for Megan was obvious from the way he watched her walking towards him as her father led her down to give her away.

And then we jump forwards to this day, 6 years later, they have welcomed 2 precious little ones into our lives, giving David's daughter Olivia a lovely little half-sister Isabella, and half-brother Noah! Both of which I have also had the pleasure to photograph multiple times for various portraits and christenings!

A few weeks later when I sent them some of my photos to add to their album, I got a message from them thanking me for sending them and telling me how much they loved them, some even more so than their actual photographer's! (Which naturally I took as a huge compliment!). They display them even today in their home and every time I see them I get a little bubble of excitement.

Looking back now, I know these weren't the best quality, and I seriously over edited them! But I also remember that I wasn't the actual photographer, I was just a guest and these photos were just for my family to add to their memories, there was no pressure and they still came out ok, I just needed more practice.

But the main thing I discovered, was that I really enjoyed taking them, loved it so much that when I got home, I asked my step dad if I could keep hold of the camera for a while and use it to keep practicing, so that I could improve and learn more about the camera, along with the more in depth features, such as the shutter speed and aperture.

And there we have it! My first unofficial wedding and the beginning of a journey into a new career! Thank you always Megan & David!
