Katie & Rob's wedding planning was extremely efficient! They got engaged In 2019 and booked me almost immediately, making sure I was available for September 2020. Of course I was free and Katie was a friend from way back when we were Brownies so obviously I would be honoured to be her photographer! Then in March of 2020.... A pandemic hit.
If you have no idea what happened when Boris announced a national lockdown in 2020, then you were either off planet, or living under a rock! Covid-19 turned the world upside down, and severely hindered me moving forward, making a name of myself in the photography world!
Or so I thought!
After a lot of careful consideration, the couple decided to reschedule the date to April 2021, hoping that everything Covid would be over and all back to normal by then. Only to find out that they were still allowed their wedding, but were only allowed 25 guests, which was heart-breaking for the both of them as they both had close relatives that lived abroad so travelling to the wedding was not allowed.
Not wanting to put it off any longer, and also announcing Katie's pregnancy in the February too, they kept that date and prayed that the government wouldn't change their minds again.
Katie & Rob exchanged vows that April at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Felbridge. The ceremony was lovely, while also a little surreal. It felt weird photographing a room of 15 people, all chairs socially distanced from each other and all wearing masks except the Bride & Groom. The groomsmen had also managed to set up a Zoom session for all of the immediate family who couldn't be there to still be a part of the ceremony, although it was not the same as having them all there, it was still nice knowing that they could still be involved.
After the ceremony, we moved out into the hotel courtyard for drinks, family photos and confetti!
We all then temporarily parted ways so I could get some time with the couple for their private shoot, before we headed to the Cowrday Arms in Balcombe for their reception.
Thank you Katie & Rob for giving me the opportunity! I'm looking forward to the second go this year!
