Gemma and Rob had both been married previously so wanted something small and understated for this time round. They did not need a massive ordeal and stress, they simply wanted to show their love for one another by exchanging vows and having a good old garden party to follow!
They only wanted me to cover the ceremony, along with some family photos in the garden of the registry office to follow, but the rest they were not worried about.
From the moment I met the two of them, I immediately saw how family oriented they were, their marriage bringing not only them as a couple together, but their children too. Both of them treated the other's children as if they were their own and they had only the children's interests at heart when it came to their photos too.
"As long as the kids are happy, so are we"
Those words stuck with me and it made me realise that Weddings are not just about the couple, although they are one of the bigger factors. Weddings in fact are about the people that are brought together, in order to create a whole family. The couple were and are perfect for each other, their love for fun and the kids made clearly obvious from our first meeting.
I met them at Leatherhead Registry office on a beautiful August afternoon, still guest restricted by Covid sadly due to the size of the venue, and made sure to capture every moment of their time that they had with me. As with most registry offices, the ceremony went well and moved quickly and soon we were all able to get out to the garden for the family photos Gemma and Rob desired, especially when it came to their children. I managed to convince them that this day was also about them so when it came to the intimate Bride & Groom shots, I made sure that their love for each other would shine in each photo.
Thank you to you both for using me as a way to capture your special day, and I hope you are enjoying married life and your family as one!
Emma
